Styles Dares To Try This Weekend

Want to play a game? We’ll call this Style Truth or Dare (Sans the Truth Part). I give you a list of five daring style and beauty tasks, and you choose one to try out this weekend. Or all five. The more you try, the more points you get. This is a game after all!
How do you win you ask? Well, why don’t you try a few of these dares and tell me if you don’t feel like a winner in the style department afterward. Little risks are good for the soul, dear friends. Have fun!
1. Give yourself a wacky manicure. My weekly eye candy? The often-candy-colored shades over at The Beauty Department for Mani Mondays, which are a treat for the eyes. Head to the store this weekend and pick up the supplies to pull off one of these chic looks. My personal favorites? Both Valentine’s Day nail looks (which you can still totally rock post-February 14th) and this tutorial for Nautical nails. L-O-V-E.
2. Wear neon… shoes. I’m kind of loving all things neon. And I have a major affinity for neon shoes, which I think say something about your personality. When I break out this footwear (I own hot pink, electric blue and super-bright orange), I like to wear head-to-toe neutrals, and then kick my outfit up a notch with a pair of neon. It’s kind of a gutsy, “mischievous” little style move that says, “Notice me!” or “Don’t you wonder what I’ve been up to?” Just saw that Target has some bright sneaks in their accessories section for a mere $12.99. Try a pair. If you dare.
3. Over-accessorize — with purpose. You know how Coco Chanel said to take one thing off before you leave the house? Yeah, you can break that rule. Instead, work a casual LBD or jeans and black tee. Then, layer on necklaces, pile on bracelets and put on a cocktail ring or two. Contrast major accessories with minimal basics for a fun lil’ ensemble with big personality.
4. Rock two-tone jewel eye shadows. Plum and sapphire blue. Aqua and kelly green. Hot pink and gold. Pick your poison. Sweep the darker color on top lid, and the lighter color on the bottom lip and into the corners. Add mascara. Rock with panache. It’s just that simple, but oh-so cool.
5. Wear a long dress. I know that sounds like a gown, and it sounds really scary, but that’s why it’s called a “style dare.” Dress a long dress down by adding the right extras. A roomy sweater, a cross-body bag and lace-ups will edge up a dress with a floaty skirt. Consider a fedora or bright beret, too.
